You never know about the place that you want to do a paranormal investigation, or ghost hunt. Who owns it? Are you allowed to be there? The important thing is to do your research BEFORE you decide to visit one of these places. Otherwise you could be risking, fines, jailtime, or MUCH worse.

This rating is used to measure how easy it is to get into the place in question. Sometimes, it’s open to the public, and other times, you need permission, or maybe ya can’t get in at all.

  Private property! Trespassers will be shot! Survivors will be shot again!

  Proceed with EXTREME caution, or not at all. It is unknown exactly what visitors to the area are allowed to do, or where they are permitted to go. It may not be completely safe. Do not go there without doing the research first!

  This is a public place that seems to be owned by a company, or a private owner. It could have a lot of foot traffic, or none at all. Maybe it’s an allegedly haunted Burger King, or shopping mall. Maybe its a privately owned graveyard. The point is, getting permission to go there and do an investigation might be tough. I wouldn’t risk trying to do an investigation without one.

  Who knows who owns the property? The place seems to be neglected, and out of the way. There are no “Posted” warnings or anything. You can go there, but I’d be careful.

  During certain times of the day, it’s public. People can come, and go as they please. People can even bring ghost hunting or investigation equipment if they want, and set it up. There’s no law against it. However, there are times of the day that if you’re there, you’ll be asked to leave, or even fined for trespassing. Do your homework before going there. You MIGHT be able to obtain a permit, or verbal permission to be there during off hours. Also, because it’s so open to the public, you run the risk of bad or contaminated evidence, if you DO try to investigate something.

  This place MAY be public, but you can’t just go there, and do a ghost hunt, or an investigation. It’s owned by someone, and you better get permission. It’s been said that permission HAS been given to other hunters, and investigators in the past, so it’s not out of the question. Unfortunately, the owners know all about the paranormal field and it’s recent spike in popularity! They’ve been known to actually CHARGE investigators, and hunters to have access to the place. Without Permission, don’t even try it.

  This place is a public place. Like others, it’s privately owned, and permission is needed. They HAVE given permission to other hunters, and investigators in the past. Just ask for it, and with any luck, you’ll have no problems getting your team in there. If you don’t get that permission, you may be looking at criminal charges.There’s a flipside to that coin. If you CAN get permission, you’ll have the place to yourself, for the most part. It COULD be a great place to investigate… IF you get permission. IF!!!

  This is a privately owned place. The owners don’t have a problem with investigators doing their thing. Still, respect must be payed. You gotta get permission to be there, but they seem to give permission to everyone who asks as long as their property is respected.

  Oddly enough, the owners don’t seem to mind people running around their property. For the most part, permission is just a formality that is often overlooked. Just respect the property, keep the noise down, and don’t be a dipshit.

  Most of the time, you can get into this place, and have free reign to do whatever the hell you want, within reason. Every now and then, it may not be available due to some public event or something, but otherwise, it’s open.

  This place is 100% open to the public at all times of the day, on any day of the year.
